Resume and Interview Tips |
Interview Tips
- Be prepared. Research the company and know the role.
- Dress appropriately to the environment. Look smart, clean and business-like but be comfortable.
- Know your own CV. You should be able to answer questions on your experience. Know dates, numbers facts and your feelings.
- Take a spare, clean copy of your CV.
- Speak clearly. Slow down if necessary. Tape yourself first and adapt your speech if necessary.
- Remember body language. Start positively with a firm handshake. Sit up. Don't fidget. Don't fiddle, drum fingers or swing legs. Avoid touching your face frequently. Move your head forward to show interest. Make eye contact. Smile!
- Listen! Hear the whole question/statement. Don't start mentally preparing your answer as the interviewer speaks. Don't interrupt.
- Be positive about yourself, your experience and your previous employers.
- End on a positive note, expressing your interest and talk about the challenges the role offers. Ask about what happens next and when you might hear from them. Thank the interviewer for his/her time.
